Online Resources Access (Non-Aidable)
Provides for consortia purchases of online databases for library reference. Must participate in Erie 1 BOCES School Library System (SLS) service - 552.100. Aidable option found in Instructional Media Resources (service code 514.100.21).
This service provides members of Erie 1 BOCES School Library System with the opportunity to purchase online resources for library reference at consortia prices. Discounts vary depending on the resource purchased. Acquisition of online resources allows the library to meet components of the NYS NOVELNY-Ready Library standard.
DELIVERABLES:
- Compilation of consortia opportunities to acquire online resources
- Ordering, access to training materials
- District or non-public school must participate in Erie 1 BOCES School Library System (SLS) service - 552.100
- District or non-public school must allow for access to information and library resources locally, regionally, statewide and nationally thru interlibrary loan for loaning purposes
- District or non-public school must annually export records as requested by SLS system for updating for ILL material availability
- District or non-public school must designate a Communication Coordinator who will attend SLS Communication Coordinator meetings [ such as a certified school librarian]
DISTRICT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide dedicated release time to appropriate library staff for training and user group activities
- Comply with licensing agreements
- Comply with federal copyright laws
WNYRIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Investigation and compilation of consortia opportunities to acquire online resources
- Ordering
- Provide staff development on the effective use of selected online resources
The WNYRIC utilizes cost effective best practices determined by research that allows our experienced and trained technical staff to perform robust testing and support of the WNYRIC network in the areas of security, infrastructure, energy management, virtualization strategies, disaster recovery and business continuity. Therefore, we are able to be a district advocate for vendor contract issues and aggressively negotiate contract pricing and performance terms. Staff follow best practices in order to provide necessary security as it relates to the most recent student, teacher and principal data security and privacy regulations.Service Desk can be reached Monday –Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by calling (716) 821-7171, 1-800-872-0780 or by e-mail at servicedesk@e1b.org. A representative will be available from 4:30 p.m. through 11:00 p.m to assist you with calls regarding emergency situations.
