Superintendent Search
There are a variety of support functions and services typically required in superintendent searches which are coordinated by the district superintendent but provided by Erie 1 BOCES staff. The cost of staff time required by the superintendent search as well as all direct costs will be offset by a service fee.
Upon request, the district superintendent may be asked to consult with a component school district board of education in designing, organizing, and implementing their process should it become necessary to hire a new superintendent of schools. There is no fee for the consultant services provided by the district superintendent.However, there are a variety of support functions and services typically required in superintendent searches which are coordinated by the district superintendent but provided by Erie 1 BOCES staff. Generally, a superintendent search requires as many as six months to complete after the plan and timeline have been approved by the board of education.The following activities will comprise the superintendent search process:
• facilitate planning sessions with the board of education
• provide orientation of staff and community advisory groups
• advertise and promote the vacancy utilizing print and on-line materials
• receive, organize, and validate all applications and supporting materials
• schedule and coordinate all interviews
• receive and collate all feedback from advisory groups for delivery to the board of education
• serve as the sole representative of the board of education to all applicants
