Teacher of the Deaf- Hard of Hearing Services
Erie 1 BOCES teacher of the deaf/hard of hearing service provides 30 minute individual direct sessions to a student enrolled in a distict or BOCES educational program. Sessions are based on the student's IEP hearing goals and needs. Teacher of the deaf/ hard of hearing service also monitors proper functioning of hearing equipmnt in the educational setting.
Teacher of the deaf/ hard of hearing services address skills including auditory, speech reading, self-advocacy, social emotional, and technology. Content support of student's academic materials is also provided wihin this service. Communication options supported are but not limited to auditory verbal, auditory oral, sign language, and combined communication strategies. An annual audiological evaluation and consultation with an audiologist are part of this service.
For students needing FM amplification equipment, the system must be provided by Erie 1 BOCES and maintained by our lisensed Audiologist, see Amplification Charge (325.400).
